Does anyone sell or freight guineafowl eggs? I have Lavender, Pearl and Pearl Pied, but would like to get some lavender pied, silvers and even the whites if I could. I have also heard of a buff variety in Australia, has anyone else heard of these?
Let me know if you can help.

Hi mrpeabody, We freight birds to most states but at this stage we haven't freighted eggs, thats not to say we wouldn't. We maybe able to help with Lavender Pied, Silver, Silver Pied. The whites are in big demand and we have orders coming out our ears (new variety) so we may not be able to help this season with them?. If you like I will email you latter in the year when we have eggs available and if your still wanting them We'll send them over?

Not sure on price as never sold eggs but as our first registered user and a very active one, we'll make them VERY cheap.

Thanks
Peacocks Australia

Thanks alot for the reply Peacocks Australia. It would be great to get some eggs freighted. If you could email me later in the year when they are laying that would be great. I am not sure about freighting eggs within Australia, I have never tried before. But it will be an interesting experiment to see how well they travel and hatch.
regards
Matt

Hi MrPeabody and PA,
I'm not trying to ruin a purchase or a sale here but in regards to air freighting fertile chook eggs I have had no luck whatsoever -some have been eggs I have purchased, and others have been eggs that I have sent to various breeders. I know my eggs were OK as I was getting 85-90% hatchability at this end and the recievers were getting as low as 5-10%, however one breeder purchased eggs from me, took them by ROAD back to Brisbane area and had 90% success.

I have a feeling that putting eggs in an airoplane HOLD from ground to high altitude (very cold) and back down to ground has some very detrimental effects on the eggs. I recently spoke with someone who obtained 3 dozen eggs from Victoria and only 2 birds hatched.

There must be a way of sending through the post by fast SURFACE mail or by air but in the cabin being pressurized and temperture controled etc.

Sorry for being the bearer of bad news but I'm sure you will work something out --- Mr Peabody make a trip to Queensland and collect your eggs, and see the best part of Australia!!!!!. Now I've started something!!!!!.
Cheers Snowball.

Hi!
I have had very good success posting duck eggs interstate. I sent two batches last year from melb to QLD and NSW. Both customers set in incubators and both had very few non-viable eggs. The first was sent air express, before i realised that it was cheaper (and no faster) to send by ordinary mail (both parcels received in 3 -4 days)

I am looking for some fertile guinea eggs myself and would be very happy to be a test customer for you also :D

Hi Snowball,
Now that i think about it, i have heard it said that the air cell can rupture in the cargo hold of a plane. If that were the case it should be fairly noticeable on candling them before setting - did you happen to candle yours?
Duck eggs do have a strong shell and fairly tough membrane compared to a hen egg so perhaps that accounts for the difference...

Thanks for the welcome, i breed Blue Swedish ducks and more recently large Saxony. Also have bantam chooks, and geese (some that are trying to be African :? ) How about you?
by the way isn't Qld too hot for snowballs :P

Hi Ozflock,
Thanks for reply --- no I did not candle before setting as I always candle on day ten.

I have been breeding Rhode Isl.Reds,Australorps and Speckled Sussex for a numbers of years as well as white peacocks, and have just recently been lucky enough to get three mandarin ducks, so I'm on a new learning curve at the moment.

Yes to hot for snowballs  but a name chosen for my white peacock, the two peahens are Princess Leah and Princess Amidala, see pics this foram. Have yet to name the mandarins as I'm still studying their characters---- don't worry most of use in Queensland are quite sane.

Had a few geese years back but not now --- can't say I know the Blue Swedish, but as I say I've only just got into ducks. How about putting some photo's in the foram

Best regards,

Snowball :D :D :D

I have heard that eggs through the mail may have decreased fertility, but I would be willing to try!!

I have visited Queensland once before and loved it, what a great place! I would like to head up to Cairns and surrounding areas one time, the rainforest there looks spectacular. As a Conservation Biologist I am biased toward natural areas :)
