My GF has a mob of silkies, and we sex the eggs like this:
pointed = male
rounded = female

We have gotten pretty good at it, so we eat a lot of pointed eggs, and to date, don't breed roosters..... "unless i do the judging" in which case i get the"look"!!!.

the questions is..... is there a way to tell with "P" eggs???
is there a shape or color difference between cock and hen ??

My first answer would be no but to be honest I have never taken any notice as shape is usually determined by the size, age and health of the hen BUT I guess you will find some will say rounded eggs will hatch pullets and pointed cockerels but I believe it makes no difference as the egg is only the pod to carry the chick.

A good point of discussion all the same

My wife uses that method to tell the sex of eggs, now whether it works or not I have never tested it. So you are not the only person that uses the method and it has been around for many years and is also used overseas so my wife tells me.

I must try this as I do get far too many roosters each year and would love to cut down that number
