Are peacocks really that loud?

so very much I am so looking forward to my first peacocks later this year I will need lots more guidance so I know where to come for help than657

Firstly,One should always have plenty of room for peafowl as they love to roam especially during their breeding seasons, but will always return when it feeding time.

I don't believe their volume is louder than a dog barking- (German Shepard) A dog can bark constantly, (until its owner tells the dog to be quiet)
however with a peacock, they have a certain pattern /tune call then stops (unless the noise they want to warn you about keeps going) such as chainsaw or drop-saw screeching, a low profile noisy plane flying above (or some louder noise that's hurts their senses)

If you have a few males then generally the alpha will take the lead, then rest will follow suit for a short call.
I have had people say it sound like a big tom cat call (reowwwuu reowwuuu) -that's it- that's my best call! dd66789

They do make great watch dogs!

I feel the misconception that peafowl are loud or noisy is simply a lie spread my a jealous rooster :lol:

The noise is most prevalent at dusk I have 16 and I am always asked if they 'yell' at night and the answer is no never in the peak of breeding loud noises set them off but that is during the day and not a problem for anyone close by. Live close to a barking dog is far worse
