Can anyone tell me when to expect my hen to lay this year? She is two years old and I'm in NSW. Every time the male fans at her she leaves the pen and goes back into the shed.

From NOW! the weathers a big part of when they start so if the days are warm then egg will come. At 2 years old she may still not lay they "start" laying at 2 but it can be in the third year and on. Is she a wild pattern IB or a mutation (white - pied - reverse pied ect...)?

She is an Indian Blue. She laid one egg soon after I bought her last year as there is a male who is quite old with her. I bought her as a pair with a one year old male but he doesn't display much with the older male around. He still only has half a tail.

Just remember peahens lay AFTER their second year ignore idiots that say they lay at 1.5 years thats crap and expected from a chicken dabbler  If you get an egg under 2 years and that is RARE its never any good.

None of my hens laid a single egg until they turned 3 years old and they are white and pied so colour don't matter with the blue peafowl they are just slow to mature

That is to be expected most if not all egg from early second year peahens are infertile because they do not allow mating in most cases its lack of experience that is needed over time

Both my blue hens have just turned 3 and until yesterday neither had laid an egg and now it looks like they are ready to breed. Now I just hope the peacocks do their thing and the eggs are good
