Do Java's lay the same amount of eggs as Blues?

Is their breeding season at the same time as the blues?

Great Thread Tahir 8)

No Greens only lay between 4-6 eggs per season on the rare occasion they will lay up to 8 in one season but even rare to do it more than one season in a row.

How old Does a Java pair need to be before they can breed?

They can breed at 4-5 Years with the majority of hens laying in the fifth season or ever the sixth

Does a Java greens call , sound anything like an Indian Blues or are they Different?

I've always wondered

I love the blues call ;)

There is a similarity but they have a greater variety of tones and call approx 50% less than blues and usually not as loud but are still sensitive to sudden loud noise in the breeding season like blues.

Thanks
P.A

P.s Great Topic Tahir.

I haven't heard my green peacock make any loud noises yet, but he does make a noise sometimes and it is not very loud, but sounds interesting. Hopefully it doesn't get too loud that the neighbours will complain.

P.A, does you young java green peacocks start to get some eye feathers in there 2nd year? my peacock has about 6 already :) and he is looking very attractive, more than the blues ;)

Hi Ian, yes they are excellent flyers, the main difference is Greens fly straight up, so the need for soft mesh on the roof is very important. Like Blues, greens can fly long distances if needed including Peacocks with full trains. The other difference is unlike most blues, Greens fly in one direction and are not seen again hence the free roaming of Pure Greens is not an option.

Thanks
P.A
