I have a question. I am going to pick my new birds on Saturday. Cage is ready. It has height of 64 cm. I can’t understand why the high cage is dangerous for a bird. Please someone explain it to me. This is not logical. My understanding if I would be rolling this cage up and down during my trip I need a smaller size of the box or cag . This is obvious. But when the box stays steady on the floor …. Another point. I will drive 4 hours, so can you imaging haw birds would be filling if they are not able to stretch there neck for so long.
I trust the person where I get my birds from and I will follow her instruction, I want bring my birds home in the safe way. But big question is still in my head. If someone could explain me I would really appreciate that. Thanks in advance .Sorry for my English

A peafowls flight instinct will cause it to fly straight up into the top of the pen and break its neck , so you are better off having a lower cage ;)

BB had a thread about a sad story that happened to one of his whites , I'll see if I can find it and bump it up 4 U .

Have fun with your new Peafowl 8)

My first pied birds (Butyajun & Frosty) arrived safely. We use cardboard cartons, putting one bird in the box. I picked up them from Pam it is 4 hours to drive. It took my birds one day to be comfortable in theirs new pan.
Also I picked up a mature male for some girl so I made a cage for him .The size of this cage is 90cm length, 40cm width and 60cm height. Pam sent my thread from Broken Bird. I was very afraid we putted blankets over the cage and the bird didn’t jump at all. We used this cage for two different birds without problems. And my personal opinion the cage is better for birds. :-D :-D :-D

Hi Tash,

Glad to hear all went well for you and your peas have settled in to their new home, give them an extra treat from me, a 4 hour trip I think they deserve a bit of spoiling.

Take Care
Deb :)
