Well a freind has convinced us that we Really need a Java Green Peacock . So we now have a Beautiful Java Green Male . We have a female organised but won't get her until next year . So until then we have put a young white female with him for some company, as neither are old enough to breed yet . They are both around 18 months old and they have bonded allready and have spent most of the day preening in the sun , any help and advice will be greatly appreciated as he is our first Java . He is a little bit flighty ,but we're told thats to be expected with the Javas . I'm sure he'll come around with sultana's and a bit of quiet time , I spent some time with him yesterday and I think he's allready coming around .The plan is to continue to Breed Pure Java's and to try to keep them Pure . Because we think they are absolutely amazing . Of course Mr Proud thinks They are ugly and is very dissapointed with the whole idea , and has been strutting around the newcomers pen . Telling us how much better the India Blues are ;)

my javas were quite flighty when i first got them, but now they come right up to you and feed from your hand. I hope he likes his new home and i'm sure he will be happy once he gets his new peahen ;)

they make a different noise to indian blue peafowl and it is also very distinct. they aren't as noisy though.

G'day bunyanuternie

Javan Greens are a magnificent species, if I had my way at work I would have them instead of the Indian Peafowls. I find them not to be as agressive in comparison. In all honesty I find Indian Peafowls can be a major pain in the backside. But my boss wants them there and tourists love em so they're a keeper.

It's good fun though doing the Peafowl round up every couple of years just to keep the numbers down.

Cheers Jax.
