The dark throats are better when you see them up close they are a mutation as good as the reds

I will see if I can get a few picture also.

The DTGP are beauties if you see good ones I agree but to many are being crossed with the RGP and thats not a good idea

Yes thats the trick to find good ones I have only seen pure ones in pictures from PA and George so far so people need to make sure they buy from the top breeders like those 2 or maybe get ripped off

There is 2 or 3 good lines of dark throat golden mutations in Australia I know Pat has done well with her's and focusing on them over the last 3 years. Pat and PA work close with their lines and I think George is in the mix {correct me if I am wrong George} It would be good if more breeders took them on especially a couple of young breeders but sadly they are few and far between.

We try to help the young ones but they loose interest in weeks in most cases like we saw recently and go off to xbox ect...

We do have a few in the club that are focused on pheasants and will do well in the future

Your right we set up a 3 way line mix but Jeff's now in the mix so we are in a 4 way mix that sounds kind of kinky   to old for that   PA's and Jeff's hens are the best I have seen so we were keen to bring the lines together.

Did you see the ad in TW for sale area for the 2 hens, he posted pictures, take a look and you will see what I mean

George

Its great to read the cooperation with the lines and breeding its whats needed to keep these mutation on track. I think many small backyard breeders don't know what a true dark throat mutation is or what they look like so they are buying and breeding these goldhersts as I call them and think they are dark throats and hence the variations of hybrids. The true dark throats breed true as its been mentioned above so I think more education is needed to the small backyarders that have no idea what a mutation is especially in the case of the dark throated mutations

Yes a few out there have no idea what the mutations are and even less idea on how to breed them. The dedicated breeders do and are breeding them well so its not important a couple of novice chook breeders have no idea its there problem.
