The one section you highlighted also does not support the theory that it is a mutation either
So how do you account for the genetic divergence of 26 base pairs, which does not exist in other golden pheasant mutations?

I am not saying they are true mutations, are hybrids, or maybe even contain elements of both.

What i am suggesting is that these papers make it clear that it is hardly a cut and dry topic as you had suggested in your previous posts.

If the genetics are so cut and dry, then please provide legitimate evidence that the genetics follow a set pattern of inheritance.
My understanding is that the breeding results are quite variable.

I am not having a go at anyone, but if you ask for genetic proof that they are hybrids, then a proof of the genetic mode of inheritance as a mutation would also be required.

Just saying it is a fact doesn't make it so, especially when the scientific literature questions it. There is genetic proof that it differs significantly from the red golden pheasant, whereas the yellow golden pheasant does not (see above paper). It doesn't prove that it is a hybrid either but it does pose some interesting questions as to its origins.

Parvo with all due respect I don't have to prove anything its listed as a mutation ;) if you feel otherwise then provide evidence. Like I said hypothesis is not proof and if you can provide proof I will happily read it. Who said the breeding results are quite variable? some kid? well there are breeders on this forum that can and will tell you they do not vary in breeding and they ACTUALLY have them so they know first hand. I will not waste any more time on this nonsense.

Anyone that claims they are not a mutation needs to, put up or shut up.

Enjoy the rest of your night Parvo

Mine have never bred variation just like my red goldens don't breed variation or my amherst or swinheo or reeves and so on. Maybe if someones getting variation they have cross breeds and not dark throats and they don't know the difference which reading some rubbish on the internet is so obvious

I must be doing something wrong after more than 40 years of breeding all my poults are consistent with the parents conf665 maybe I should cull them and buy these variation dark throats from the 1 minute wonder kids sidesplit.gif On a serious note if a person gets variation then they do not have dark throat mutations its that simple and they need to focus on learning the basics of pheasants and how to identify the breeds. I find the whole thing a joke and like colin won't waste time on it or the 1 minute wonder kids

George

The trouble is George those 1 minute wonder kids don't have them nor ever have not surprising when some have only kept red goldens less than a year and not bred them but know all because they can google (like the example _ _ in TW) sidesplit.gif sidesplit.gif some really should stick to cross breed chooks and let the adults breed the pure birds.
