Hi there,
Thought I would post a pic of my new additions, also Indian Blues.
I am told they are approx. 2.5 years old and should be ready to mate in December this year. ???
Are there any reading materials that explain on x-breeding for pied and split pied ect. ???
I have all Indian Blues but have been offered a white and am not sure what colour I will get.

Kind Regards
Jeanie

If they are 2.5 years old then yes they could breed this year. Peafowl breed best from 3 years old but can breed at 2 yeas its the peahen that needs to mature more so than the peacock.

Your not x breeding as White and Blue Pied are Indian Blue mutations. Yes there is heaps of info on the forum and also BASIC PEAFOWL GENETICS TABLE at PA's web site http://www.peacocksaustralia.com/basicgenetics.html

You will breed India Blue split to White, you can then use the splits to breed to the white and you will get 50% White and 50% India Blue split White. You can also breed India Blue split White to India Blue split White and you will get 25% White; 50% India Blue split White and 25% India Blue.

Thank you so much for that,
I also have x2 Indian Blue males which are only 10 months old, Whom do not like the new additions as their pens are beside each other with only wire netting dividing them.
Would you suggest I put up a screen so they can not see each other or will they settle and get acquainted.

Regards
Jeanie

Yes you need a screen and before breeding season or they will fight ALL day through the wire. Make the screen from the ground up 1 meter I used tin but next time I would use shade cloth like PA much better idea

Example of PA's http://www.peacocksaustralia.com/galler ... age_id=121
