Hi all. Has anyone on the forum heard of feeding fish meal and calf milk powder mixed with their feed, for extra protein for peacocks?

Fish meal is an excellent source of protein. It should contain over 50% protein and is comprised of amino acids that complement a grain based diet. The only disadvantages are that it is usually very expensive and can taint the eggs and meat of utility type poultry.

Calf milk replacer is usually around 25% protein and it is also very expensive. It also has a lot of energy value in the lactose (milk sugar) and fats it contains. Historically dairy by-products such as skim milk were often used as part of poultry rations. Modern research shows that it can cause digestive problems as poultry cannot digest lactose.

Meat meal would be my choice as it is cheaper and contains about 50% protein also with useful amino acid composition.
Laucke meat meal retails for about $1.50 kg.
