Hello everyone,
Many years ago we added two peahens and one peacock to our list of rescued animals. Currently we have five peahens and seven peacocks that free-range on our 35 acres. They all roost in a tree (along with guinea fowl) next to the house. During summer we lost three peahens. One we think from heatstroke, but the other two, not sure. No obvious damage except for a small tear on the chest of one. We were wondering if excessive mating may have had something to do with this? If so, what could we do to protect the peahens? We would like to keep all of them.
Cheers,
Susie

Peafowl are not affected by mythical "heat stroke" nor are any birds for that matter.

They probably all died from worms as you need to worm twice a year

I have a flock of 87 free range IB's and about a 60/40 ratio and no problems
