The site of the week is looking out into the garden and seeing my 3 peacocks laying in the big blue wheel barrow sunning themselves. Just their heads poking out the top. This week saw us start our renorvations so I locked the trio up the night before the builder came. He turned up for two days(unsuspecting that we had peacocks) when my son accidently let the peacocks out of their pen and they came sneaking around the back to see if the gate was open. The builder was standing in our kitchen when his compressor started up and of cause the peacocks(standing under the window) let out a wail at the same time and the builder nearly had to be peeled off the ceiling!!!! Consequently the peacocks honk alot when strangers are around.I love reading your forum and hearing about other people who love these character birds as much as I do.

Hi Kandie,
Hows your builders heart rate :!: :!: My birds are the same if there is a strange noise or person around they will go off alarming --- if I'm in the chook/peacock yard and a car arrives I will know by the peacocks behaviour before I see the car.

All the best,regards,
Snowball :D :D :D

Hi Kandie, Its a good thing the Builder didn't have a week heart! That would have been a great Photo of them in the wheel barrow, wev'e had 8 of them standing in the back of our ute as if they wanted to go for a ride!!! they are real characters. A few days ago I was in one of our "Whites" pens with my back to them squatting down checking the irrigation system, when I felt that tickle feeling of feathers as I turned around the Peacock let out a call right in my ear "Literally" we has only a few centimeters from my head in full display. I swear I heard him laugh as he walk off.

We may need to have a chat to him about the differance between Human & Peahen????

At this time of the year Peacocks are quite sensertive and will call at just about any noise, particularly strange or loud noise. Yep your right Snowball they are great for letting you know when someone arrives

Thanks
Peacocks Australia

That would be a great picture!! Need to keep that camera handy. PA the male displaying right next to you would have also been hilarious, I think you are just lucky he didnt take you bending over as an invitation. haha.
