Jeff, I have a fairly long shopping list.

I loved to get a girl for my pied peacock boy, girls for my Silver, Golden and Ringneck pheasants, a couple more white turkeys to extend my bloodline of my show turkeys. Of course any muscovies that would extend my collection.

I also would love to have a pair of Bentville Turkeys, but I have not seen them at any auctions yet. I am also hoping to get some Ancona seeing how I lost all mine to a dog attack 5 weeks ago.

As you can see, it is a good list, so I hope to get something.

Trevor

I only believe it was a dog, because all the kills were 1 bite and the chest was crushed, then the bird was dropped where killed, and ¼ of the birds were buried in the pens.

No birds were taken, only killed. I also lost 8 peachicks, (heart attacks or stress) and all my female pheasants the same way.

The dog only attacked my most expensive birds, walked pass everything else, but an observation was that it only attacked small birds, anything that was as big or bigger that a Muscovy drake was not touched. As I have large fowl and muscovies in the same area and they were not touched??? I lost 50 birds in that attack, about $1000 - $1500 in pure bird cost, not replacement bloodlines, the peachicks could have earned me $800 plus when fully grown, (2 white, 2 pied, 2 dark pied and 2 blue)

The list I gave is a shopping list, I could not afford to buy it all at the one time, but yes I own a ute and I take 12 poultry crates with me to every auction, sometime they are full going to auctions and sometimes full on the way home.

I currently have a order for 20 white geese, 10 guinea fowl and a peahen, from one person, as well as other orders from other people. It keeps me busy.

"I am in the dog house"

not really, I bought lots, some I planned some not.

I got:
a trio of Bantam Ancona - $24, to help rebuild my flock
a Golden pheasant male - $14
a beautiful pair of Pile Modern Game - $**
two white female poults
a pair of lavender Guinea Fowl - $28
1 mature blue peahen - $72
1 juvenile dark pied peacock - $56
1 juvenile blue peahen - $55
1 18 month old blue peacock - $25

So I am happy with my trip

I am not surprised that your friend did not get any muscovies, as the traders were red hot yesterday. All the muscovies prices were high.

There were lots of rooster/cockerels, heaps of muscovies, about 20 turkeys, 20 geese, a few other breeds of ducks, 7 peafowl (all blue, unless you knew the vender!!). Wayne Newman entered about 25 pheasants (mutant, ringneck, reeves), lots of ISA brown layers, 8 Guinea Fowl. That is all I can remember.

It was a big meat sale, with some good birds here and there. Goulburn always has those special birds but, like the pheasants.
