2013 Mothers Day pure breed sale
Date: Sunday 12 May 2013
Time: 10am to 2pm
Place: Queanbeyan Showground
The Canberra Queanbeyan Poultry Club proudly announces our first pure breed sale of the year. We are expecting a variety of breeds, including Wyandottes, Australorps, Campines, Pekins, Langshans, Rhode Island Reds and more. The sale is NOT an auction – rather it will be a fixed price sale.
All birds will have cage labels with breed, sex, age and colour to help you in the buying process. Plus knowledgeable volunteers will be happy to answer your questions about the birds up for sale.
All venders wishing to sell pure breed poultry at this sale are welcome. See below for more information.
Information sessions are planned and include the following topics:
What poultry should I get?
Chook basics
Have you considered ducks?
A small entry fee will apply to these information sessions. Each session is expected to go for approximately half an hour. The sessions will be run at 11am and 1pm (demand dependant).
Buyer’s information
Only cash will be accepted on the day. No credit cards or cheques.
Buyers are responsible for bringing suitable containers for their new poultry. Bags are not acceptable. All purchases need to be collected by 3pm on the day.
Buyers will need their receipt to remove their purchases from the shed. A club steward will assist you to collect your purchases.
A list of the poultry booked in for sale will be provided closer to the sale date.
Parking is available inside the showground. Refreshments will be available.
Seller’s information
Pen fee is $2 per bird plus a 10% commission on the sale price. The $2 per bird will be collected when you pen the birds. Once all your birds are sold, you can collect your money from the cashier.
The seller can select whether they wish to put a price on the whole pen or per bird.
Any birds not sold on the day need to be collected by 3pm.
The poultry shed will be open for penning the following times:
Saturday 11th May 4pm – 6pm
Sunday 12th May 7:30 - 9:30am.
A club volunteer will assist with the penning process, recording your selling and contact details. An information label will be provided for your pens, displaying price, breed name, sex and colour. It is the seller’s responsibility to check the details on the label.
There are a limited number of pens available. Therefore pre-booking pens is suggested.
The club doesn’t want to see rows of cages containing only roosters. This sale is not intended for the meat bird buyer. If pen space is becoming limited, male birds penned without a female may not be accepted.
Any birds that are obviously not pure breed or that display signs of illness or lice/mites will not be accepted into the sale.
