Hi, wave.gif all you wise chookie people out there,

I was wondering what do people use for their chookies before and during moulting season?

Thank you, kindly 52.gif

I have used Moulting Aid by Vetafarm Pty Ltd

Directions: Mix 0.5mL of Moulting Aid with 150mL of clean drinking water and supply for 3-5 days each week during moulting season.
On food, add 5mLs of Moulting Aid to approximately 1Kg of soft or wet feeds

Ingredients: Vitamin A, D3, E, K, B12, Biotin, Nicotinamide, Potassium Iodine, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Panothenic Acid, Lysine, Pyridoxine, Methionine, Choline Bitartrate, Folic Acid, Zinc, Manganese, Copper, Cobalt

you can also add small quatities of fruit to this ^
If you want - a half dose of a multi vitamin can be added to their water = many like to give their birds multi vitamins
remember tho that a well fed bird has a rounded diet and that diet is full of what they need

# well fed does not mean over fed

Had to look that up

Chicory is a popular substitute for coffee, as well as a central ingredient in ' chicory coffee' recipes

Interesting stuff

Mine get a little biotin+calcium (the product is intended for healing horses hooves) in their wet mash of an evening. The do get greens through the day.

My hens quite often start laying again during the later stages of the moult whereas, prior to adding the biotin, they didn't lay for some months.

Linz :)
