Hi everyone,

I noticed one of my female ducks today has a swollen vent and there's a cloudy substance dripping from her vent as well. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, she's not straining or panting, she's sitting happily outside under a tree with the boys. I'm pretty sure she's laid an egg today too(unless it's the other girl that's laying, though the other duck has just come off a nest, so I wouldn't have thought she'd be laying again yet.)

I have her booked in to see a vet tomorrow morning and I will try and catch her today and keep her somewhere away from the others.

Does this sound like she's egg bound? or is there something else that might be wrong? Is there anything I can do with her between now and when I take her to the vet?

Ok, my duck has been to the vet, and she had prolapsed, but wasn't egg bound. They fixed the prolapse and this morning she has laid her egg and hasn't prolapsed again. I'm just going to have to keep an eye on her incase it happens again and to make sure they're getting enough calcium to help stop it happening. I've mixed some calcium grit into their food to make sure they eat some, they don't seem interested when I offer it on its own, are there any other ways I can make sure they're eating enough calcium? (they eating layer mash too)
