But now I always measure out the dose separately for each hen and treat before measuring out the next dose to treat the next one and so on. I do not put all of what I need into one syringe and Squirt because sometimes syringes can get stuck and when the plunger is pushed harder the liquid in the syringe comes out at a fast rate and more than what you want comes out. That is what happened to me and I overdosed my girl.

What happens to the chook if you overdose them on worming solution?

Depends on the drug and how much.
If you overdose on ivermectin or moxidectin they tend to lose balance and show neurological signs.
With Nilverm/Avitrol, overdosing can make them very sick and be fatal.

I used Ivomec. As I said it was accidental, but now I am extra extra careful when administering. My hen made a complete recovery but it took about a week or two.

I was just wondering about drenching with the worming solution, as Ivermectin and poultry worming tablets are difficult to obtain over the counter in these parts.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

pity you asked...

she died
RIP Caramel!! :(
she was a nice hen...
had to force feed her she was so skinny... :( that day her condition picked up but then rocketed back down and couldn't do anything about it... :( sucks, coming home from school to find her dead :(

worked out that the new cage will cost at least 300 dollars, so I might have to give wombat away for a little while :( then I won't have any friends th_Noooo.gif
and I can't find Cairns recycling.. so, that budget could go to 400... got me thinking, is there a minimum age for a job? my 14th birthday is on june 25

thanks for all your help even though Caramel couldn't make it :(
I seperated her, and put her on my back balcony for the day to warm up (it was quite chilly today)
but couldn't make it... :(
hope I get a job soon,

Philip

So sorry Philip, may Caramel rest in peace in chook heaven.

I think that I have previously mentioned to you to place an add on the forum in for POULTRY ACCESSORIES FOR SALE & WANTED,
viewforum.php?f=16
Maybe some one out there could help you out with donating some building materials for your coop? Or even an add on GUMTREE or at the local supermarket or your church/school for any unwanted building materials free give to a worthy cause. Ask your mother first and talk to her about it.

Could the lady that has Coco spare a friend for Wombat so that you and Wombat won't feel so lonely?
