I actually wrote minimum 35%; Most are actually 50-55% fat.
Makes it even worse, doesn't it!

I've had a stockfeed place tell me the grey ones were lower in fat too.

So parvo if I have a sick hen recovering from illness and has lost lots of weight would it be a good idea to give her sunflower being its high in fat?

i just let my chooks decied, they seemed to like the grey ones more and i was told they were lower in fat so i went with that, i find it keeps there coats really good and keeps weight on them for winter time. i swear by it for showing time, but i dont give them much, maybe about a handfull to about 11 chooks.

I thought this was a trick question initially; uhmm, one's grey and the other is black.
It reminds me of the Irishman who could never tell his two horses apart until one day he figured out that the white one was two hands taller than the black one.

That would depend on the circumstances when he had this Epiphany? Was it day or night time when he discovered the differences between the horses? There are many variables to reach this enlightenment...

Oddly enough tone is always relative no matter how much available light there is, therefore white will always appear lighter than black if there is the slightest skerrick of light.

Would it make any difference if it was fed fresh home grown and not completely rip or dry like you buy. I know most of the sunflower seed is dried and can be quite old before its used in the seed or chook food

Lots of people grow their own sunflowers for their chooks. I'm not very sure about the stage of ripeness of the home grown ones to feed your chooks. Some one who actually grows them for that purpose may be able to offer more advice.
