The youngest I have given them was 6 weeks but if you break them up you could give them some at a younger age

If I was to crush the biscuits would they be ok for 1 week old chicks?

[smilie=welcome.gif] Dobby,

I personally would not give crushed cat biscuits to week old chicks, probably too high in protein for their tiny body's and organ's to cope with. Stick with medicated chick crumble and even crumbled hard boiled egg for the chickies.

Good points thanks the hard boiled eggs are a good idea and probably the same level of protein?

Sorry, can't help you there, but hard boiled eggs are definitely a more natural source of protein for week old chicks along with their medicated chick crumble.

No eggs are not even close with the protein

Eggs = 13% cooked
Eggs = 15% raw

Cat biscuits = min 18% up to 30%

Go with the biscuits

I still wouldn't give crushed cat biscuits to week old chicks, which is what Dobby originally asked.

If you crush the biscuits to the same size as chick starter then they will eat it without any trouble and they will be better off with the boost of vitamins and protein but its an individuals choice

Would the chick starter be better than the cat biscuits I would think they should only have that for the first 3 or 4 weeks?

Yes, chick starter is recommended over cat biscuits for chicks as it is medicated for Coccidiosis.
