To vaccinate or not to vaccinate

Hi Lady Jane

When talking to some of the local breeders, the main two they vaccinate against here are Marek's and ILT as they seem to be the diseases common in this area. I guess it depends on what diseases are in your area and what you intend to do with the chooks - obviously showing them puts them at a higher risk say than if you lived on a remote property where they didn't interact with other chooks (and don't forget the wild birds can bring in disease too).

Possibly talk to breeders in your area or a Poultry Club in your area - they may be willing to help with vaccination or at least give you some advice on where to source vaccines etc.

So do these vaccinations work for life so if done they can not get these diseases or is there booster shots need at some point in time?

If I understand right you only have to do them once for most diseases like Marek's and Newcastle disease
