I use worm tonic in bowl of porridge laced with bits of meat to tempt them..or in polenta mash...works every time

Which is best to worm the chook giving the wormer in the water or catching each one and giving it directly down the throat?

Hi ChookDowns,

I think it would be better to give the wormer direct to beak or down the throat as you cannot guarantee that the chickens will drink the water and/or how much they will drink.

Best Wishes

Hi ChookDowns,

If you have trouble catching them, it is probably a good idea to get them when they are roosting. Perhaps early in the morning, before you let them out, would be a good time. [smilie=18_13_1.gif] The other alternative, if you are worming with a tablet, is to give them the tablet wrapped in something that they really like. You just have to make sure that they swallow it, and not spit it out. Good luck with it.

Best wishes
Sultan
