If they are toxic then I would call a pest agent and see what can be done

I really would not worry about them. Although they are distasteful to predators there is no evidence that they are toxic. They disappear soon enough and they are probably useful. Apparently the adults eat aphids and the larvae consume many pest species.

Thank you kindly 52.gif for the further info doggo, they have taken over from the bees though in the garden and the chooks don't like them in the coop.

i understand that they are bugging you (excuse the pun) perhaps what I should have said is that they will soon all be dead anyway. The flying stage of these insects is a brief last stage when they mate and soon die.
Hope they are gone very soon.

We have thousands of cicada's at the moment and are driving us mad with the noise and at night flying into the windows can't wait for them to die off again

Sadly no, they just seem to be multiplying. There seem to be no mores bees buzzing because of the soldier beetle invasion, they are really plagued.
