Hi all,

More questions :)

One of my RIR chooks (that is about 30 weeks and laying I think??) is sneezing, occasional weeping eyes and has diarrhoea. She's had it since I've had her - I'm embarrassed to say for many months now. I just assumed it was a cold and like humans would get better by itself. But it hasn't....

Any thoughts? Do I need to take her to a vet??

She may have a respiratory infection and coccidiosis, she may need a course of antibiotics and need to be wormed and to be isolated from the others so that they don't get sick and she can heal.

Use a saline rinse to clean her eyes as her nasal passages maybe blocked from the sneezing.

You can purchase broad spectrum antibiotics over the counter at some stockfeeds and start a course of them, taking her to the vet is your call, it depends how ill she is.

Glad to be of help, the antibiotics are usually in powder form and dosage mixed in their drinking water.

You can purchase them on line through Planet Poultry or Little Valley Poultry, PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS on the bottle before administration. Also it is good to read the product description on line before purchase and seek further advice before you proceed.
