hi
i have a 2-3month chicken(frizzle) i bought a while ago and it wasn't really healthy from the start. It peeps all the time but now i have found the end of her back has only a few tufts of feathers and there is dried blood there as well. Is it an infection????Was she just bullied by another chicken??(she is with two friendly adult chickens but the hen is a bit mean.i had to put them together cause i dont have enough coops and that).I dustd her for mites and lice yesterday.I have posted a problem with her before on here and everybody said it was probably lice or mites even though i couldn't see any.Does that mean that she might be allergic to the powder i use for mites and lice(by the way though she is acting like nothing is wrong). Please help! She is such a sweety and i don't want to lose her! hide: hide: [smilie=a_help.gif]

Sounds like it is being feather picked by other chooks. This can happen more often if it is already being bullied. It needs to be isolated until it recovers or it may be killed.
If you introduce new birds they need to have somewhere to escape to especially if the pen is fairly small.

Yep we decided to put her separate for a few months but two questions: should i put something on the blood to make sure she doesn't get infected and two, should i buy a younger chicken to make sure she isnt lonely? [smilie=thanks.gif] [smilie=thanks.gif] [smilie=thanks.gif]

Hi
I bought some younger babies in the hopes they wouldn't bully her(they didn't) with a larger 3month Orpy rooster (he was such a gentleman in the car with the babies-he had never met them but he cuddled them) but he saw some blood and pecked at it so had to separate her from them :(.But we are going to try some things and get her strong again! than657 than657 again!
