Your comment regards cocci has been put here as it does not fully relate to the subject matter of the thread where it was originally posted and I feel it needs its own thread

this IS NOT an attack against you = I am genuinely interested in this subject
I am sure others will be as well

so what you are telling me is that geese can give chooks Cocci? I assume you have evidence of this? medically proven, and/or scientifically proven evidence?
If you do, I know everyone would appreciate you posting in this independent post abt it

the reason being =
I have been outright attacked verbally to my face and subtly attacked via the internet as well on this subject, even tho I knew it was a direct attack at me due to reasons I will not go into here as the reasons are and personal

are you saying that there is only one type of Coccidiosis and that all species get the exact same one?
Or are you saying that birds all get one sort of Cocci, mammals another, reptiles another etc?

if this is the case =
please answer by way of posting in this new thread

OR alternately = post your reasons for believing geese can give chooks Cocci

The answer is "NO"!

Coccidia tend to be species-specific.

The coccidia which infect geese do not tend to successfully infect chickens.

If you keep them together, they may both come down with coccidiosis, particularly if the birds are all young. However, the coccidia causing problems in the geese will be different to those in the chickens. If this happens, it is most likely because the birds are stressed.
