Hello;

I made this post a few months ago. I am concerned that this hen's legs are becoming quite large.

Is there need for concern?

Is there something I should do to try and remedy this ?

I'm not sure of the hen's age as all my chickens are rescued animals but, I'd say around 5 years (?). Other than the legs the general health looks good and she eats as expected.

The first picture was taken 5 May 2013. The others 4 August 2013.

Thank You for looking, Chicken Girl

ORIGINAL POST BELOW

Can someone knowledgeable comment on the size of this hen's feet ?

When I acquired the hen a year ago her feet with a lot smaller than they are now.

Should I be concerned?

Thank you, Chicken Girl

Hi
It looks like there is some swelling there. Could I have another pic please? Sometimes chickens get swellings on their feet because they hurt it somehow, or because of a disease/parasite. If nothing else happens with the feet I would say its nota concern. If she is walking ok then I would say to keep an eye on it, make sure nothing big happens to her and it probably should go down.( based on personal findings and thoughts)
Good luck
Chooklover

No eggspert, but her legs, look red and inflamed.

Do chooks get arthritis? Maybe some sort of parasite burrowed in?

Hi; Sorry for the delay on responding.

I have no idea to the age of the hen. Her legs have been more or less like this since I was given the bird a year ago.

She has no problems walking, running or jumping, and although the legs appear red, this is the normal colour.

She does not have bumblebee foot (or whatever they call it).

Arthritis is a possibility; my guess is this hen is plus 5 years.

@ChookLover101 - Another photo? what do you want photographed ?

Thank you, CG
