Hi guys...so my five girls have refused their Sulfa3 laced water and porridge laced with Sulfa3....three Isa Browns still have runny noses so wonder how I can get it into them before it turns to respiratory disease..you know I wonder if my two new additions brought the virus in to the coop because original three were so fit prior and the two new additions show no signs of nasal discharge..they are lovely though x x any tips of how to drug them up.....tried holding back water and lacing porridge with all sorts of goodies...they are on to me now ha ha x x

Its harder this time of year being cold so they don't drink much but just keep the treatment going they will drink it sooner or later. I bet the new ones brought it in as they are probably carriers, did you quarantine them?

No wiseman..only discovered this forum after they became ill and had chickens all my life and never had to medicate a hen before so thinking I have been very lucky till now....

The three with runny noses are still vibrant and active so i will keep up the treatment...kills me to chuck the eggs out but I know I have to...

Sorry to read that your chookies are ill Doolan, maybe add some granulated garlic to their mash and or porridge to help them fight of their virus and keep persisting with the Sulfa3 water.

Or hard boil THEIR eggs, so you don't have to waste them and mash it up with the Sulfa 3 and granulated garlic thinkerg.gif

I was told to put a bit of sugar in the water with the meds to sweeten the water, does that work?

Like in Mary Poppins, A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down...
