Think I may have worked it out......Daphne has been popping next door to scrounge for bugs and grubs as they use the house as a holiday place only...well...silly old boring women with no neck sends her grandkids over to tell me she does NOT appreciate that chicken digging up her garden (there is no garden, just mulch etc) so when I went to collect her I noticed a lot of fungii amongst the mulch that she was rolling in...so good thing I saw it...but...gosh...never seen three kids who didnt want anything to do with my chooks, cowering behind the fence as if she was going to go for their jugular...their loss.

See if that stops the smell.

Ol Bat! tell her I've got one of Australia's leading horticulturists that lives next to me and she incorporates chickens into her garden to weed, eat bugs and turn & fertilise her fully organic certified garden?

Chickens are considered to be one of the best things for an organic garden.

Can't stand closed minded Ol Bats like her :x

Thats so sad, but doesn't surprise me one bit considering she so closed minded. When you have the older generation teaching a younger generation such ignorance, you just can't be surprised can you really.

Did you end up giving Daphy a wash? Or has the smell dissipated enough now :?:

Some people have such ignorance to good old fashioned living. My chooks turn over the compost when they feel like it. They have access 24/7. As for the lemon tree that they are cultivating the soil underneath it, it loves it. I thought my lemon tree had died in the bush fires but now its just coming good. It has the biggest leaves I have ever seen. Thanks to my chookies. :-D

Finally the source of the stink has been discovered. Soon she should be smelly like roses

Ha ha..Chick + Chick...we are such like minded peeps...

I was just about to plop her in the sudsy water when a neighbour dropped in with a bag of greens for my girls (thank goodness they are not all dip s...ts) he said STOP...too cold...let her be..so i did...but she hates me for not letting her wander nextdoor......still stinks....

But will give it three days......putting some garden lime in the pens to sweeten the dust baths ....xxxxx

Correct me if I am wrong but you should be laying down hydrated lime. Not garden lime.

wave.gif Doolan

You've done a wonderful job. The lime you used is fine for the pens.
