Well I took my gorgeous Rooster over to a property where they were passing him on to a neighbour with twelve hens...so lucky but.......this guy had at least 50 hens and roosters of all breeds and ages running free in his backyard amongst geese and ducks with no sign of food and not a drop of water in sight.

He was just lovely though and after i filled up all the water bowls i ended up buying two gorgeous bantams but I have no idea how old the dark one is....she feels well covered by flesh but take a look at those weird claws...i am treating her for leg mites just in case but what is with those long claws..perhaps she isnt a young one and has been used as a broodie..she eats well,,scratches around happily and after one week i am about to end quarantee and let her roam with my Isa Browns (the mean girls)...

The other hen is young, happy and healthy..do not know the breed. Neither of them had ever seen a fresh vegetable I am sure....but soon got used to it...

What do you think of that dark girl?

she looks like a nice Pekin they tend to grow there nails as they don't scratch as much with all the feathers on there feet,
you will need to trim them with dog toe nail clippers.

I thought partridge was gold penciled ?
it looks more like a black red crossed to single lace to me.

I did not see this post til now D,

Obviously these are your new girls [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

Very "special" & " unique" indeed.

Epecially the one that looks like a silver laced Wyandotte with a fluffy head. Is that the pom pom you were talking about?

Wouldn't be looking forward to trimming those nails either hide:

Cheers
Chicka-Dee

Yes Chicka-dee...will get a better shot today as they are not as freaked out by me now....and the dark one is so relieved that her leg mites are gone and her legs are smooth and healthy that she let me cut her nails and is so happy..must have been so itchy....they are all gettig a new pen too..nearly finished..just got to cover the lot to keep out preditors and pigeons...
