Post subject:  Rooster with a cough

My rooster has a coughs which he has had for months. His crowing is not as good but he is generally well apart from moulting. Any ideas ?

Some sort of throat infection? have you looked in the Health section of the forum?

If its not to serious maybe you could try an over the counter antibiotic as a first line treatment and if you don't see an improvement in a couple of days or he gets worse, then take him to the vet. My local produce store sells Triple C over the counter. Works well for this type of thing.

Betadine Sore Throat Gargle added to his water might work. You would need to check out the correct dosage though.

I have had excellent success using Sulphur 3... Over counter but only from reputable stock feeders.. And increase probiotic yogurt..i put sulphur 3 in porridge with creamed corn so i could see when chook had eaten entire dose xxx good luck xxx
