That's a good result Doolan. Neocort contains cortisone in it which makes it dangerous to use in birds continuously because they are very sensitive to cortisone. One-off use would be ok. With prolapses it is important to keep the prolapsed tissue moist and stop it from drying out, as well as settling the inflammation and stopping infection. Not all prolapses are related to egg laying and if the bird continues to strain you need to sort out why eg infection or damage in the rectum or the cloaca. I am glad it worked out so well- smiles all around. BTW Doolan, she didn't wink at you did she?? |

Who takes up to 50% of a birds beak???.....there shouldn't be any beak trimming at all I think Dr Kim Critchley needs to get herself some pet chickens instead of using them as 'subjects'. Lucky i didnt read the article before I spent three days with my middle finger up the hens bum.....especially when it says they all die anyho.....we all have to have hope....according to my research prior to mending the poor girl, the results were excellent for full recovery..perhaps the article was from a long long time ago.... If i am feeding them incorrectly then I have been doing so for 25 years...but...I always appreciate any advice I get...even if it means changing my ways...... I will let you all know if she relapses.....hope not... (Thanks for your support C-Dee...) |
