Hello Again:

I do not believe this to be a problem. but thought I would post some images just to make sure....

This hen has been scratching her face on and off now for a few days. I am concerned that a face mite/fungus issue may be developing.

The scale/mite (?) seems more prominent on the left hand side of the beak.

There are some small white specks here and there and some scaly deposits above the beak area. The speaks are not visible in the photographs.

What is the consensus - should I be concerned ?

Thank You, CG

Hi - They are more clear coloured (if they are in fact mites). I would not have concerned myself, except that one side has something growing along the beak edge, and the other hasn't - also there is the scratching, CG

Thank you Bill. I asked an avian vet during Bridget's check-up and he said not to be concerned with whatever it is. Still, I will keep monitoring the situation, and if it becomes worse ( I have the base photographs for reference) will treat as you suggest. Cheers, Chick-Girl
