I have a lame goose. Toulouse cross. She is about 18 mths old and very quiet. She was limping on her right leg which came good. It has regressed quite a bit in the last few days. I have looked at the leg and when I put pressure on the joints she didn't flinch or pull away. I cant see anything wrong with her foot. When she lays down her right leg is favoured by laying it back. When walking she is slow and sort of hops like we would. She can't keep up with the others and this worries me at night. If a fox comes around she would have to fly to get away. We don't have good poultry vets here let alone a one for geese. I thought she may have tripped on one of the many chook holes in the pen and sprained her upper leg muscles. Would it be best to keep her in the coup for a few days? Rest her leg? |

I've heard it can be a vitamen thing. We've given ours brewers yeast (from chemist) that has niocin and some other b12 vitamen in it, could give it a go. This is not for an injury though. Crush them up and sprinkly on some moist bread. |

It helps with leg problems due to poor circulation, we lost a few goslings and had a mum who sat too long and went lame. |

Hi all and thank you for the responses. I was watching my goose yesterday, and she is not limping anymore. Good result. I had a suspicion that it was muscular, she is good now. |
