Post subject: | Soft Shelled Egg Pullet |
I have a pullet who started laying last week. I found a soft shell egg at my doorstep last night and this afternoon she squatted in front of me and pushed out another soft shell egg. I offered her a boiled egg which she ate and not long after she passed the egg. I lost a pullet last year, dead in the nest box which I suspect was caused by egg bound/ heart attack. Can I offer her anything else apart from shell grit? |

So are the shells still inside her? |

Katy wrote: So are the shells still inside her? No, no shell inside her, just laying a soft egg intact. She squatted in front of me and layed one. Night before that someone left a double yolker, no shell again on the front door mat. I assume it was her, she is a door sitter. I am at this stage trying to avoid egg bound! I think she has just laid an egg in a nest box with a shell. I have mixed grit and powdered egg shell in a mash maybe it is working. I have set up a trail camera to see who goes where, have yet to download it. |
