Hi Everyone
I have recently purchased (just over a week) 2 chookies who are about 4 months old. I have noticed that the little Aracuana x Hamburg smells really really bad. From what i can tell its not her breath but her body/feathers. Its so bad that it actually leaves a smell on my skin if i have held her. I contacted the seller who informed me that she has wormed them with a cattle pour on back in September. Would this make her smell bad?? The other chook, a Lavender Aracuana, doesn't seem to smell at all.
I have given her a bath which helped a little bit but the smell was still there slightly, but have noticed the last day or so its come back. She seems to have a slight "cold" which consists of a bit of a runny nose and some sneezing so I have given her some Oxymav B this morning. Apart from that she is doing all other chookie things normally.
The Lavender Aracuana also has a problem. She seems to yawn/gap a lot after she eats. I know that they do do this sometimes after they eat but this seems like she has something stuck. She seems to be doing it a bit less the last couple of days but its still happening. I was thinking gape worms or the mixed grains she eats could be getting stuck? When she gaps she also scratches her head and shakes it a little. She is fine and is eating, drinking etc all normally.
I have wormed them again since I got them.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated as I'm at a loss what to do.
thanks
The Girls
