Hi Cordelia, Yes the Vets are unnecessarily exp. I took my dog to the Gatton University vet surgery.
Somehow she (Dakota) got hurt on the fence. A piece of wire went into her knee. Left an inch deep hole. They told me that it would cost nearly $600 to clean out, treat, tetanas needle (or the equivelant) and patch up. The damage was not huge just very sore and not in a good spot. I hit the roof and they had a pow wow in the back room and said they will only charge $165 or so. Can't remember the actual amount now but it is only a matter of a couple of dollars.
SO YES they are too dear.

Its all about the money!

All to true I feel and they are lacking knowledge of fowls in general so better off with google and it is free . Once you work out whats wrong buy the drugs needed on ebay ;) simple really
