Hi bunyanuternie, we had a delivery on 25/10 all bags contained Medication, but it may be new stock? Our supplier said he is not aware of it being removed, but will check.

Thanks

I have done some search and none of the feed manufactors put "black head" med in their feed only Coccidiostat for the treatment of coccidiosis.

But I have never treated my turkeys for black head, but I know the signs I need to watch out for and I also have the medication on hand, if I need it.

Thanks Broken Bird , I will have to get some medication , Can you tell me what you use please and I will try to get some , If the turkey starter has no blackhead medication then what makes it different from chicken starter ? It also has the C medication and thats what I feed my chickens with great success , , as I am expecting some white peachicks (fingers crossed ) and want to do all the right things , I have eggs from the whites , in the incubator , under a muscovy duck , and under 2 sussex hens , I will have to start letting my peahens go clucky as I have nowhere left to put any eggs ....So I do appreciate all of your help , what are the signs of blackhead and what else should I look out for ,Thanks again Ian

Hi bunyanuternie & BB

Both Poultry Diseases “Coccidiosis” & “Histomoniasis” (black head disease) are Protozoan Diseases & come From “Protozoans” and is therefore coincided that Medicated Turkey Starter Crumbles with the manufactured additive “Lasalocid” aids in the prevention of BOTH diseases.

Histomoniasis: Symptoms are loss of appetite, increased thirst, droopiness, drowsiness, darkening of the facial regions and sulphur colored yellow droppings/diarrhea.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Thanks Peacocks , I did some research into blackhead last night in my livestock encylopedia it was refering to turkeys (not peafowl )but also suggested boiled rice was good to supplent their diet with as it prevented diarea , do you think this would be the same in peafowl , Thanks Ian
