my frizzle all of a sudden ( well its been two weeks now) is hopping around, she seems to hold her middle long toe right out, at first i thought maybe her toenail is too long and thats a problem, but ive had a look and its not that.

Is there any easy way to tell if her foot is broken. If its broken is there anything i can do for her. [/img]

Hi Cammochick, Is it her Foot or Leg? If it's her leg then it's unusual for a chicken to break a leg without some trauma involved. Many can recover without intervention and some won't. If the leg is broken it will change colour, have no grip, give no resistance when moved up & down. Just keep an eye on the other leg as Marek's Disease, can cause this. One leg becomes lame, then paralyzed, usually at an angle to one side. Then both legs are affected.

Thanks
P.A

mmmm, ok its not her leg , it is actually her foot , well more her middle long toe, if that makes sense, she was fine up untill the past few weeks. theres no colour loss or anything like that . She has always been a little loner , ever since i got her , and all my other chickens have always picked on her for some reason , but now she has this sore foot, she has her own little haven where she can escape the rest, im just wondering will it ever heal . And more to the point is she in pain, she looks miserable, but then again shes always looked miserable after she lost her 3 mates.
ill try and post a picture of her and her foot in my album, im still trying to work out how to do that , now that im registered

cammochick, chooks will pick on another that is injured. I've had that with a hen with a sore foot, one day she was fine the next she was limping, it took about 2-3 weeks for her to recover.

Hi Cammochick, We agree with Jeff, sounds like it's simply a sore foot, just check to make sure there's nothing in her foot or that it's not cut. She should recover in time.

Thanks
