yesterday i cleaned out the pigeon coop with bleach so i put the squabs(babie pigeons)that were on the ground into empty nests.then about an hour later i came back to finish up and found one of the sqaubs beaten up with brusies and cuts i fixed him up, his eyes arnt the best but other that that his ok.i then put him and the other one uptheir back on the ground and made a bit of a nest for each of them. :(

then to day just then i went out to check on them and found the other rolling around from wat i think a blow to the head,i left him for a while, but he was closing his eyes so i put him down :(

it jut gos to show that pigeons and dove should not be peace symbolls :)

squabs(babie pigeons)

learn something new everyday,
unfortunate to hear about the one you put down,
do you have any idea who the culprit was?

not sure which 1 but it was a pigeon as they hit with their wings wen you go near their nest and the other babie must of wandered to close

I had a fantail squab pecked to the point his skull was showing. I cleaned the wound, hand reared him the rest of the way and he recovered except had a bit of a limp and couldn't fly. I tried him out with some other birds a few weeks later and he was beaten again with blood all over him.

Again I cleaned his wounds (one requiring a stitch), he recovered again however it was apparent that the second attack had given him major brain damage because he had no strength in his left side so I had to put the poor little battler to sleep.

It was so hard, life was so unfair to him :( .

Pigeons can be very agressive, and some are absolutely delightful. Some of my larger breeds (show kings, runts, modenas) have charming personalities. Even hatching and rearing chicks for the first 24 hours!
