There is no simple answer- anything up to 15-18 yrs but a lot depends on their genetics and their diet.
Many don't make it past 5 yrs.
14 is a good age, so well done!
Keep doing whatever it is you're doing.

Hi, Thought I would ask the APF team what is the average lifespan / age of a pet budgie? Our little guy (Bluey he is almost a viloet - very original but the best a 3 year old could come up with at the time), you could almost consider him domesticated, has just had his 11th birthday and going strong. He was a present for our youngest daughter for her 3rd birthday, she turns 14 in 2 weeks. He has been a good investment and has managed to survive longer than most other presents including his original cage. Rhode Red |

They sure do the kids like the big budgies but they never live much longer than 2 or 3 years must be all that messed up genetics going on. This was William Henry Gates III, commonly known as Bill or Boof as he had a big head, a show budgie. He had all sorts of digestive problems and also was rather confused and tried to mate with the cockatiel who turned out to be a male too! |
