Keeping him occupied for when you are not home is very important IMO.

You are getting a very intelligent, active & mischievous bird after all!

If you google environmental enrichment for parrots that should give you some ideas, but in summary hide treats where it will take him time to find them eg hide a few seeds or nuts in a brown paper bag filled with shredded paper; try hiding treats in trays of pebbles or mulch so he has to find them; give him plastic drink bottles with lid on-they often have fun removing these. there are lots of toys made for this reason; give him lots of browse. If you have a cage with a mesh/grate bottom then placing the cage on the lawn will give him lots of natural foraging opportunities.

If he's in the house keep him away from the kitchen when cooking (burnt teflon pans are toxic; cooking oils/boiling water are very dangerous). Don't use air fresheners & fabric/carpet cleaners when the bird is in the house. Stop him from chewing anything that may contain lead, zinc or copper eg leadlight windows, curtain weights etc etc.

But most of all-enjoy him!! :-D

Sadly for me while Lori was away from us she went a little wild and I am no longer able to touch her, I am working on getting her back to hand friendly as she was handraised by my nana and myself.... any advice on how to work towards her being friendly?

I am wanting one but a question are they really messy when they are on the play gym and you give them treats?

Just use a seed bell on the gym or cuttle fish most of the time I give mine no food while they are playing on the gym and I have rope toys for them the chew

Be very careful of rope toys. If the bird chews at the threads then get rid of it.
They have caused impactions in birds' crops, in particular in cockatiels and lorikeets.
Seed bells are probably not the ideal treat for a lorikeet on a regular basis either- occasionally they're ok.

Why is that parvo? I was told the honey seed bells are very good for them.
