Can I have small chickens in the aviary with 9 budgies for clean up reasons. I will take them out when they get bigger just while they are small and young

I wondered the same a while back. The best answer seems to be that chickens and budgies are not prone to to the same types of coccidiosis and that budgies will not spread mareks disease to chickens. Not sure about parasitic worms though.
I have been keeping chickens in the aviary for quite a few months now with no obvious problems.

What about when the baby budgies come out of the nest and go on the ground will the chicken peck at them or even eat them?

Yes. I'm sure they would.

I have large breed chickens from about 12 weeks up to 20 weeks (without checking my records). There are a variety of budgerigars in the aviary but breeders are kept separately. Chooks are fairly bloody minded with any other bird or chicken and a young budgie fluttering around would not have much chance.

Some quails like japs can be aggressive to budgies and finches too
