Bloody Crossbreeds, hahaha

Well if you are going to crossbreed "true finches" preferably use smaller male or similar sized "true finch" species to a female canary.

for example

male Goldfinch x German Roller
male European Greenfinch x Red Facter Canary
male Hooded Siskin x Lizard Canary
...etc etc.

but any female canary will do as long as it's similar sized or a bit bigger.

A lot of the guys I know always use the male "true finch" to a female canary because the males are a lot more reluctant to cross breed than female "true finches"

My mum had a goldfinch x canary when I was a kid, he was the best whistler mum ever had.
