I have a 2 year old male cockatiel and I was wanting to know can I add another cockatiel to his cage, how would I go about it, would it work and what size would the cage have to be for 2 (a friend found a tame cockatiel on her front lawn and if she cannot track down the owner was wanting to give it to me). Also not sure on the sex of this bird.

How big is your cage?
I would say 1.5meters long by 1meter wide is a fair cage for 2 cockateils

Thanks Stuart for your reply.
The cage is about 70 cm height and 1 m wide. Not big enough. :(

You can have 2 in a smaller cage if they are tame and you let them out on a play area like a play platform

My cockatiel does come out of the cage a lot of the day, so that is something to consider, haven't heard from my friend about it so maybe she found the other cockatiel's owners. Thanks for the info. :)
