Apart from the Pekins ad Silkies, I find the Brahmas are also good broodies, so are speckled Sussex.

I have two silver laced Brahmas at the moment and they are constantly on the brood. They lay eggs for about a month and then off they go again. Given they are silver laced, gorgeous and pretty rare with beautiful dispositions, this can be a little frustrating as I would like to have more eggs, [smilie=18_13_1.gif] nevertheless I make the most of it when they do lay by incubating their eggs in the incubator and when they are on the brood.

I have 4 Brahmas and they are great broodies as you say all have had more than 6 chicks at one time and they did a super job

Do the mixed hens of silkie and pekin really make the best broodies I keep getting told these are better than a silkie or pekin on there own?
