hi i was wondering if anyone knows what temp you can have a fridge at to store setting eggs as i have read somewhere (cant find it now) that you can have setting eggs in the fridge at a certain temp and still be able to set them ( we have a few spare fridges at the moment and lots of eggs )

Just keep the eggs on the bench. I keep them for 7 days and rotate them twice a day while they are on the bench. Then when I have a broody chook I set them under her and I have had a very good success rate. If I don't end up with a broody hen I feed them to the dogs. :)

hi there, if you don't have a cool place or you need to store the eggs for longer than a week before you incubate them it can be a bit hot up here (I know Grafton is) to leave them out if you don't have a cool room. I would suggest turning your fridge up as much as possible and read what temp you can get. If it is anything above 8oC then it is ok. I used to store eggs in Tas and at times the room (old dairy) temp used to get to 8 or 10oC and I had 100% hatch rate with my silkie eggs! Otherwise I couldn't garentee although I have had people tell me that they always store their eggs for incubating in the fridge during summer (wouldn't reccommend this though). Hope this helps
