With the weather turning cold in the mornings would it be worth setting 16 eggs in the incubator which I have in the shed or would it be a waste of power because its too cold outside and the incubator would not cope?

If I have a hen hatch some chicks in say 3 week is it worth putting them all inc mum in a smaller cage with a light for heat over night I ask because we are staring to get over nights of 4-5 deg so not sure mum can handle that low temp with all the chicks under her?

Maybe a smaller coop kept out from exposure to the extreme elements of weather. Maybe cover the coop with a tarp overnight, I wouldn't give any extra sources heat over night outside other than the tarp as they may indeed catch a chill when you turn off the heater with a sudden drop in temperature :(
