recently I sent eggs via Ex Post = wrapped 'my way' [now slightly modified] thanks to so many discussing different ideas/ways here :-D [thanks!] :-D

2 doz = 24 eggs 2 not fertile/viable 20 chicks on the ground [ havent heard abt the other 2 eggs yet]

1 doz and then 2 doz to same person[ different to 1st person] = 36 eggs 35 chicks on the ground  :-D

1 doz then 1 doz [1 day apart but set together] to another = waiting for hatch to happen tomorrow [fingers crossed]

also hand delivered 3 doz that were being flown back to WA as hand luggage [wrapped as per for posting] due to hatch next week]

Have received 2 doz from WA Ex Post = 19 chicks :-D

and sidesplit.gif have probably just jinxed myself sidesplit.gif

Thanks for the great advice, feedback from first customer. 14 out of 20 hatched. Considering she paid for 1 dozen, she is happy. Thanks again for wonderful advice.

update

latest lots sent

2 doz - 18 survived - the poor bloke dropped an egg the chick that had pipped died on impact [he wanted to take a closer look]
advice to him = dont touch them until they are out of the shell and dry and you are moving them to their brooder

1 doz mixed - BOTH White hatched :) - Black/Blue 6 hatched - Cuckoo both hatched :) total 10 chicks

3 doz Cuckoo to far nth QLD - they sent pics to prove all 36 hatched :-D  :-D

and on the disaster side = 2 doz posted to sthn QLD - the carton was damaged and even tho eggs appeared ok only 2 hatched = sending more next monday

stopping sending soon tho = once the night temp is consistently above 15 and day time is consistently above 24 = TIME TO STOP POSTING EGGS even if EX Posted

I purchased 1 dozen Australorp eggs from a fella off Farmstock 10 months ago and all hatched and are now big and healthy. I guess it really comes down to how they are packed.

Too hot now for eggs, I would not recommend anyone buy eggs at this time of year.

I stopped just after my last post

and now the heat waves are causing enough damage without cooking eggs in transit for you

I think that is what he means, you should expect 40% to hatch
