If they start off fresh and fertile are packed well, not cooked, frozen, dropped or shaken about too much then treated with care in the incubator you'll hatch some chicks. The reality, however, is that on average eggs through the post will not hatch as well as ones that have not travelled.

The main advantage, as I see it, to getting eggs through the post is access to some new genetics without the risk of introducing internal or external parasites or various diseases.

I had a good and bad experience with posted eggs my first 2 dozen eggs arrived with 5 broken in one carton and 3 in the other. The good experience is the breeder replaced the broken eggs free of charge and all arrived unbroken and I got 18 chicks in total so it started badly but ended ok

THE RISK OF BUYING EGGS......
I have purchased eggs from all over Australia mostly with good sucsess, If I've had a bad hatch most breeders have sent another lot for cost of postage ......

BUT.........

I heard a story just the other day that scared me a little and I thought I would share it with you guys......

A lady had been receiving complaints about the eggs she was posting out...
ie. no hatchings or rotten eggs.....
She could not understand what was going on, why people could not get her eggs to hatch...
She was sure people were trying to rip her off when they repeatedly asked her to replace eggs or for there money back...
She says she checks all her eggs for fertillity before any are sent, and is 100% percent sure all her eggs have chickens in them

............................HOW YOU ASK........................

She incubates them for ten days and only sends out the eggs with chickens in them......

............UNBELEIVEABLE......... but sadly true................

Surely she cannot have been an experienced breeder to do this? If she was just sending eggs to try and make money I'd imagine ignorance could lead to someone trying this.

You'd have to imagine anyone with quality birds has experience and knows what they're doing and would realise you can't pull eggs from the incubation process to post them?

I guess it all comes down to the research you do before the purchase to learn as much as you can about what you're buying and hopefully ascertain the person you're buying from knows what they're doing.

Yikes!

A lady I contacted for Araucana eggs said she guaranteed all the eggs she sends will be fertile 100% when I asked her how she can 100% guarantee that she replied she set them for 7 days and as soon as veins could be seen with a torch she then sends them, I hung up immediately. Some people are just plain stupid

How do turkey eggs go in the post

not well
have sent turkey eggs many times and you get 100% hatch at home with abt 40-50% hatch when posted - they just dont seem to like the travelling
